Overview: What is RDB Records?

Besides being responsible for the marketing and the release of your music we also help you grow, collaborations within the label and maybe some gigs. Just like most indie labels we have a smaller distribution network than our big label counterparts and typically reach consumers one at a time. However, we as an indie label have a strong reputation for staying in touch with upcoming music trends and giving chances to unknown artists who eventually become international sensations. We hope to inspire you to make and develope your own music and find your own way in the music industry. It's easy for our label to work hard because we love the music you will produce. We're committed to working for our artists success. When you believe in the music you're working with, your job will be easier and more enjoyable. Plus, in the music industry, people appreciate seeing other people being excited about the music they're working on. It's not inspirational to work with a company that treats you like just another asset, or with producers and other executives who are going through the motions. A genuine belief in the music and musicians a label represents will be noticeable and could help journalists, radio, promoters and others get excited about it as well. We are not bound by genre. RDB Records has the freedom to pick and choose which artists we sign. If you decide to sign with us, it's because we like your music and your taste. We have no intention to change your sound or image. That means you will have creative control (not always the case at Big Three (Universal, Sony & Warner)). The other, obvious benefit is the close relationship you'll have with us. You will get to know the RDB Records staff very well. With fewer artists to work with and a more intimate staff, you are more likely to connect with someone and get a quick response.

Complete Guide: How to Submit Demos

Submitting your unreleased tracks to the A&R team at RDB Records requires careful preparation. Record labels receive dozens of submissions daily, so presenting your demo professionally significantly increases your chances of getting noticed and signed.

1. Technical Track Preparation

  • Finish Your Track Completely: Do not send unfinished loops, rough ideas, or work-in-progress clips. Only submit fully arranged, structured tracks ready for release consideration.
  • Mixdown Quality: Ensure proper headroom (around -3dB to -6dB), crisp highs, and clear separation between instruments. Clean mixes grab A&R attention immediately.
  • Audio Format: Use private streaming links such as SoundCloud or Box/Dropbox. Ensure tracks are downloadable if requested by the label.

2. Pitching Email Best Practices

  • Personalize Your Message: Address the A&R team properly. Avoid generic template emails or mass CC/BCC sends, which are often automatically filtered out as spam.
  • Include Essential Details: Briefly introduce yourself, mention 2–3 of your strongest unreleased tracks, and include your social media or Spotify artist profile links.
  • Respect Privacy Settings: Always keep your SoundCloud playlist or track set to Private. Independent labels strictly prefer exclusive, unreleased music.
